Each fall, we ask our members and friends to help support Twin Cities T’ai Chi through our annual fundraiser. This year, we thought it was important to explain more clearly why the fundraiser is necessary. Simply put, tuition and membership fees cover only about 60% of the cost of operating the school. We have worked hard to keep our fees affordable. Our July tuition increase amounted to about $1 per week and largely reflected inflation since our previous increase in October 2023. In other words, tuition is keeping pace with rising costs, but it does not cover the full cost of maintaining the school. The difference has long been made possible by the generosity of our community. Our projected operating budget for 2027 is approximately $140,000. With membership fees covering about 60% of our operating costs, the remaining gap is substantial at $56,000. Our annual fundraiser helps us close that gap and keep the school strong. This year, we’d especially like to encourage broad participation from our community. Gifts of every size matter. A tax-deductible contribution of $25, $50, $100—or whatever amount is comfortable for you—joins with the contributions of larger donors to make a real difference. The strength of the fundraiser is reflected in how many members choose to participate. For many years, our community has stepped forward when the school needed it. We are grateful for that history of generosity and confident that together, we can continue building a strong foundation for the years ahead.
